Keynote Lecture
This papers describes a list of applications for the implementation of Additive Manufacturing technology, in particular Powder Bed Laser Fusion, in launcher and satellite applications.
An exhaustive development plan, based in practical study cases, has been implemented, and some current flight components coming from different payloads, with very different functions and structural requirements have been redesigned, optimized and manufactured.
Articles as a clamp band separation system for ARIANE 5, together with other secondary structures for VEGA launcher have been developed. A complex baffle support bracket of the Hipparcos satellite, a reaction wheel bracket SEOSat/Ingenio earth observation satellite, load carrying brackets for satellite solar wings, between others, have been as well implemented showing the potential of the technology.
The exposed results are part of collaboration between Airbus Defence & Space, Space Systems, Madrid, together with CATEC, the Center of Advanced Aerospace Technologies in Seville, Spain.
